First Era: Dev Update 2
We embarked on a new transformative journey in March, releasing the First Era of our development roadmap, with an ambitious timeline and groundbreaking features to be implemented.
Today we are excited to announce the introduction of two new features, the Telegram Bot, as well as Web3 Modal. These new platform functionalities simplify existing workflows and processes, as HYVE is evolving into a highly collaborative ecosystem.
Let's dive into our new features and discover how you you can make use of them.
PS: In the coming week we will also publish a recap of the First Era progress, including a detailed description of every implemented feature. So far, we've integrated more than half of the promised features.
Telegram Bot for Escrow Now
To reduce the work involved in the Instant Pledge flow, we created a Telegram Bot that would enable users to create a secure escrow, further simplifying interaction with the platform.
The Telegram Bot enables a step-by-step process to creating a new escrow account. Two main commands can be used to start interaction with the bot:
- /start - once typed in the message box, this command will commence the escrow creation flow
- /help - if you are having difficulties with the Telegram Bot, simply type in the help command and you'll receive information
The workflow is mostly identical to the Instant Pledge process from the platform. It will start by asking you whether you have to pay or receive funds. Next, you will have to write a brief description for the escrow account (i.e. the reason for which you are sending or receiving funds). Just like on the platform, the total number of revisions for the performed work, as well as delivery time are required as inputs in order to create the escrow. In this case, users can select from a series of predefined options underneath their Telegram chat box.
The next steps will concern payment. The Bot will ask users to select the blockchain and token in which payment will be made, followed by inputting the total number of tokens. Bear in mind that HYVE's cross-chain infrastructure is highly diverse, meaning you can choose from 200+ tokens across 15+ blockchains.
Lastly, you will be prompted to input your wallet address, as well the address of the funds receiver or payer. Before confirming that the introduced information is correct, you will have one final chance to review all the provided details, as well as modify some of them.
Once the flow has been completed, a secure link for the escrow account will be provided directly in your Telegram chat, allowing you to share it with your counterpart. Just like for the Instant Pledge functionality, the escrow is backed by a smart contract. The person receiving the funds will log into the Wallet section of the platform in order to be able to withdraw their funds.
At a later date, the Telegram Bot will be expanded to include other features as well. Ultimately, we want you to be able to create listings such as Jobs or Offers from the Telegram Bot, as well as new functionalities that we will introduce in the upcoming eras. As we build further in our Development Eras, expect more accessibility as our goal is to increase adoption of the platform.
WalletConnect for intuitive onboarding
Last year, when we released HYVE V2.5 we introduced new login options, allowing for users to sign-up using their social channels in addition to their Metamask wallets.
Now, through the WalletConnect integration, users can simply opt in for their wallet of choice by scanning the WalletConnect QR Code, creating an effortless and intuitive login experience.
Web3 Modal is a comprehensive solution for onboarding, which has been tested by many dApps with proven results. This versatile library simplifies many of the background processes required for wallet interaction with a dApp. In our case, we wanted to diversify the wallet support for HYVE (WalletConnect supports more than 500 wallets), while improving UX and accessibility - Web3 Modal was the obvious solution.
The integration of the Web3 Modal libraries was quite complex, as we wanted to ensure full compatibility, performing regular testing throughout an extended period of time, creating an intuitive and simple experience for our users.
When's the next update?
We're currently working on the Activity Log, a directory where all platform interaction is documented, as well as the Invoicing System that will simplify adjacent administrative processes for freelancers. Expect a new dev update in the coming weeks, as we are nearing the finalization of the First Era.
Later on, we'll release a comprehensive recap of the already implemented features. Stay tuned on social media channels, as we are posting regular updates!
